Cannon Beach

The Indiana Jones Bridge from hell. Good ol Willapa Hills trail rails to trails turned out not to be, how do you say it, finished? We ended up walking across this pretty intense bridge and amac found out just how afraid of heights i actually am. Let the adventure begin!

Our touring rides

The fully loaded 82lbs and 84lbs steeds that will get us to Golden State. Saddle up, yeehaw!

Touring till the cows come home

The scariest bridge I've ever ridden into Oregon, our camping spot in South Bend and our hundred mile day!

VIP status

So I only had time to post some pictures last but I'll give a little description and background now. The washington brewers fest happens every year in a different place in the state and this year it was in Redmond WA. A-mac and I had talked to the brewer for PT brewing company and got in contact with the sales manager. He said that he needed some help on Sunday at the fest and could get us in on Sat too. Super stoaked, alex and I decided we were going to ride down on Saturday to partake in the festivities and then pour on Sunday. We got a little lost as usual but finally got to the park. We went up to an official looking guy with a badge and said we were working for PT brewing so he pointed us to a tent and let us right in. At the tent we said, again, we were working for PT and gave her our names. The lady said our names weren't on the list but gave us official badges and pointed us to the VIP brewers lounge with bbq and some speciality beers. So with no prior qualification except confidence we were sippin beers with the head brewers and eating all the food we could. Eventually we found the PT sales manager and he told us he had notified the lady that he had volunteers coming but for a little while we felt pretty VIP. We later met up with Nadeeka and had a blast tasting all the washington beers! We crashed the night with a very nice woman who was happy to host some touring beer lovers and spent the next day pouring all the fine ales PT has to offer. The ride home was interesting since we left at 7pm but soaking wet at 3am we arrived back home from a successful weekend. Oh and amac hit 3500 miles since he moved west!

SpringRain Summer Solstice Super Sleepover Sunrise Slumber Party!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, it's been pretty crazy getting ready for the ride down the coast but here are some updates! Last night was the summer solstice which Alex and I celebrated at Springrain farm in nearby Chimacum. We rode over after dinner and drank Twilight from Deschutes (highly recommended) while the sun set and then after a hot tub/river dunk we threw out our sleeping bags under the stars. We woke up to an amazing sunrise and fresh raspberries right off the bush. It was a great start to the summer. Moving backwards, last weekend Alex and I got hooked by PT brewing company to pour at the Washington brewers fest. We rode then ferry then rode from PT to our friend Mark's place on Friday for some good ol Boulder reunion action. Saturday morning we rode to the fest in Marymoor park south of Seattle in Redmond. We had only talked to the sales manager on the phone and all we knew was that we had a free ticket for Sat and we were pouring on Sunday. We showed up at the park in our sweaty bike jerseys but we must have sounded official because we talked to some at a back gate and he pointed us to a tent. At the tent we must have sounded even more official because we said we were here to work for PT brewing and even though we weren't on the list we were added and given bracelets and badges. Next thing we know we're in the brewers lounge eating all the burgers and brats we can manage and drinking beer. We found Ken and realized he had notified some people that he had +2 for PT but we sure felt like we were rock stars! For the rest of the day we sampled WA's finest. We stayed at place we found on warmshowers website, specially for bike tourists, and spent all Sunday pouring beer and tapping kegs. It was a blast. Sunday night we decided we should get back to the farm so we rode from 7pm till about 3am in the pouring rain but with beaming smiles from such a fun weekend. Now I'm getting ready to head to the non-profit bike shop in PT called the ReCyclery to log some wrenching hours and do a few last minor tweaks on my own ride (big red) before my tour down the coast. I'll be leaving in less than a week! pictures soon of big red, the ride to the brew fest, and fun!
