Home Alone - Farm Edition

While the members of the Earlwood farmstead are officially off to do some soul searching, vision questing, backpacking adventure fun, I'm here solo on the farm. Yes that's right, all the lives of some 50-odd animals are in my hands. It's pretty cool to have learned enough in the few weeks I've been here to be able to know how to do it all, but it's still a little nerve-racking. A-mac, peterman, rebecca and adam are down in Oregon to find some direction and really figure out what they each personally want out of the farm. I find it fitting to do some of the same here while they're gone. I’ve been very amazed how fun and happy every meal, every chore, every work party has been and I’ve had to use almost no money. I usually don’t have this much fun unless it’s on a vacation. I've now lived the saying that I'm sure we've all heard, that money doesn't buy happiness. I know it's easy to say and to think that we're being guided by the right motives but it always helps to take a step back and make sure. On to practical matters: I have now officially decided I’ll be hoping on my bike the last week in June to ride down to California for Brian and Ashley’s wedding in Santa Clara then I will be in the bay area till July 20something until I hop a ride to Iowa for RAGBRAI. After that the plans are frighteningly scarce but that’s always exciting.
