Lower Elwha River Hike

The Elwha dam was removed in 2011 allowing the river to flow from it's headwaters in the Olympic National Park, right by Hurricane Ridge where we ski, all the way to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This is the first time it's flowed free in 100 years and one of the first ever dam removals when ecological life was recorded before and after the dam. Megan, Larry and I (and our trusty companions Sebastian and Tonzo) were in Port Angeles to see Jamie's volleyball game and we decided to check out the shift of the landscape now that the river flows uninterrupted into the ocean.
